Additional thanks: All the DayZ Origins forum denizens who helped with information, tips, and feedback! And of course: Thanks to Gamers Platoon for creating DayZ Origins, and Dean "Rocket" Hall for creating DayZ!
Q: Is this map up-to-date?
Take note of the version field!
Some vehicle information in this map is still from older versions of DayZ Origins.
Icons in blue have been verified in the latest version of DayZ Origins.
Icons in red were verified only in older versions.
Q: What does the ID number mean?
The ID is unique to this website.
If you wish to identify a specific vehicle, for example to report an incorrect vehicle marker,
then the ID number lets me more easily find and edit that vehicle's info.
Q: What are those numbers on the lower left?
Those are coordinates.
However, note that they are unique to this website and have nothing to do with in-game coordinates.
If you wish to identify a specific location on the map,
then they will let me more easily find that location.
(Hint: Zoom in as far as you can to get coordinates that are as precise as possible.)
Q: Can I add my own markers?
That is still a bit beyond my programming abilities. :)
But perhaps someday I will learn how to add that functionality to the map.
It would make it way cooler and more useful, I agree.
Q: I have more information/updates for you!
That isn't a question.
Q: Okay, smartass, how do I send you more information or updates?
The best way for now is to post in the thread for this site
on the Official DayZ Origins forums. (LINKY!)
You will need to make a forum account, but it's painless to do,
and it is a great community to join.
Q: Will you be adding loot locations?
Probably not, because most of this information is verified by hand.
It takes a long time just to verify the major vehicles,
especially on a highly-populated server where everybody takes them and drives them around.
Q: Why are you verifying everything by hand?
The Gamers Platoon team have not yet released the DayZ Origins server to the public.
Until then, I cannot obtain the vehicle data files, at least not officially.
Someday when they release Origins 2.0 to the public,
then I'll pull the data and re-code this map to use it!
Q: How can I get a "major vehicles" map like your old MashupForge version?
Click on the Layers icon (upper right) and deselect
airplanes, bicycles, boats, minor ground vehicles, and uncategorized.
Q: Why not just use the DayZDB map for Taviana?
Because the Origins mod map these days barely resembles the Taviana mod map anymore.
Not only are a huge majority of the vehicles different and/or in different locations,
but not even all the islands exist in Taviana.
(Just try finding Salvation City there!)
This project was started to provide an accurate vehicle map
specifically for the Origins mod.
Q: Won't DayZDB just release their own map someday?
It's possible. But they probably won't until Origins is publicly released.
(See two questions before this one.)
Until that time, I'll be providing this map for the Origins community to use!
Q: Why are some of my icons showing as blank white squares?
Don't worry, it's not a bug or glitch. :)
I just haven't been to those vehicles to verify exactly what they really are yet.
They are all part of the "uncategorized" type.
Q: A sailboat icon? Seriously?
The icon collection that I use (see credits above) does not yet have a good alternative
for a "boat" icon, and I'm no artist.
It took me awhile just to make that simple "open pickup" icon.
If anybody would like to make a better custom icon for it, then feel free.
Be sure to use the same background color scheme and gradients so that it doesn't look out-of-place,
and retain the size, shape, and transparency.
And don't forget to make both a red and blue version!
(You can use the existing icons as templates.)
The same goes for that "rowboat" icon for the speedboats,
the "bulldozer" icon for the tractors,
and the "tank" icon for armed ground vehicles.
